This traditional French style earthenware lidded Beurrier à eau butter dish with St Omer grey hand painted decoration conserves your butter and keeps it at the perfect consistency for spreading.
Butter is packed into the bell shaped lid, and kept submerged in water. The water creates an airtight seal that keeps oxygen away from the butter and stops the butter from becoming rancid, whilst keeping the butter soft and fresh.
Our butter dishes are entirely handcrafted and hand painted by our master craftsmen. We are proud to continue producing our pieces using the traditional 18th century techniques.
